SKIING in Bansko is outstanding and is Europes best new ski resort as it offers top quality ski tracks, facilities and resorts. Bansko itself is set amongst three of Bulgaria’s finest mountain ranges, The Pirin, The Rila and The Rhodopa, and with The Pirin range included on the list of World Heritage sites, there are few places the world over that can match the scenery of the Bansko resort, located in the mid-west of the country, only a couple of hours from Sofi a airport and yet a world of its own. Serious skiers will benefit from the e100 million investment programme, which helped contribute to 65 snow canons covering 53% of the piste network, alongside high-tech, hands-free lift passes and the top-of-the-range Austrian-built gondola. The ultra-modern gondola will take you up an impressive network of slopes (which are scheduled to expand by 30% in the near future), which range from 930m to 2560m in altitude, split 35% blue, 40% red and 25% black, across 65km of marked runs. The real benefit of skiing in Bansko, however, is the lack of queues, the untouched powder, and equipment and tuition costs around half that on offer in the older resorts of Europe.

For those looking for something slightly different, there is a snowboarding half-pipe, cross country trial facility, biathlon track with shooting range and a winter sports stadium.

White water rafting

Bansko provides its visitors with lots of adventurous and adrenaline raising experiences. One of them is white water rafting. Every fan of extreme vacations can enjoy an exciting and memorable summer in Bansko. The two major rafting locations are along the two major bulgarian rivers – Mesta and Struma.

The other location for rafting around Bansko is Mesta River. Its waters run calmly all the way of the rafting trip. Rafters will enjoy quiet waters and picturesque scenery. This trip gives the rafters the opportunity to practice their paddling and navigation techniques.

Rock climbing
One day climbing (in different levels and rappelling)+ instructor, equipment and picnic.

Golf
Set at the very foot of the impressive Pirin mountains, the 18 hole Bansko golf course is probablygoing to be one of the best in the country for quality and facilities. The course was designed by golfer Ian Woosnam and is being buit by IMG.

Horse riding
A great way to explore one of Europes most unspoilt nature reserves. Maybe stopping for lunch in a forest glade or taking a rest beside a clear cool mountain stream.

Jeep safari
What better place for a complete off-road experience. The narrow dirt tracks and rugged countryside provides virtually unlimited off-road tracks, winding in and around the mountains, through rivers and across rugged terrain.

Fishing
Surrounded by lakes, Bansko has some excellent locations for fishing. Chances are, you will have an entire lake to yourself so you can relax, unwind and admire the stunning backdrop of the Pirin mountains.
